उसने अपनी परेशानी उन्हें सुनाई। उस व्यक्ति की बात सुनकर फ्रेंकलिन को हंसी आ गई। वह बोले, 'दुनिया में सबसे बड़ी गलती है 'निठल्ला बैठना'। जो इस सबसे बड़ी गलती को करता है, उससे गलतियां कैसे होगीं और जब तक गलती नहीं होगी तो वह नया कैसे सीख या कर पाएगा।'

सर फ्रेंकलिन की यह बात सुनकर उस व्यक्ति में स्वयं के प्रति सम्मान बढ़ गया।
संक्षेप में नया सीखने के लिए कुछ काम करना होता है। अगर आप कुछ काम करेंगे तो गलतियां होगीं। गलतियां होगीं तो सीख मिलेगी। इसलिए निठल्ला रहना दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी गलती है।
